Usraat Fahmidah

Co-Executive Director at Policy for the People

Usraat Fahmidah is an award-winning independent journalist covering internet, politics, human rights, media, cultural trends and more. Her words have appeared in VICE, Wired, The Nation, The Daily Star and more. 

Currently, Usraat serves as the Co-Executive Director, and Managing Editor of Policy for the People journal. She has been with Policy for the People since its inception, where she initiated the Policy for the People journal and has hosted numerous  hackathons in social science, including the Pandemic Policython, Education Policython, SIS, Researchathon, and Merge.

 

Her research interests span media, culture, Asian history,  education and community development, AI ethics, and the intersection of technology and culture. In her spare time, Usraat is dedicated to teaching philosophy to young students, and regularly contributes to her print column focused on educational reforms.
